We got one but have since returned it for one without a dvd player (same hdtv, sans player). THE REASON is that we didn't want to have to use 2 remote controls, one for Direct TV and one to power on the tv and control the volume. After long conversations with both Direct TV and Sylvania there was no way to get this COMBO TV to work thru the Direct TV remote.
